David, I feel for you.
My dad passed on March 17th.
He was 84 and had severe Alzheimer's.
His passing was very difficult for mom, but he was ready, and much better
off now.  The only ones hurting now are the ones left behind.

But our fathers are both in a better place now, and time will heal your
hurt.

...quietly, at home, my sister present.  He was 83 and had suffered
progressively from Lewy-Body dementia since 1998.  In ways both good
and bad he had a lot to do with who I am today.  I miss him.
