I think just by the nature of how rivets work the inside will be sealed by the high pressure of the deformed metal on the inside of the pipe. You could dab some silicone on the inside if you can reach that far in the pipe I guess. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Loren Busch Sent: Saturday, May 16, 2009 11:26 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: GoWesty coolant repair kit vs SS pipes On Sat, May 16, 2009 at 3:27 AM, Frank Condelli <RAlanen@aol.com> wrote: > Just put two countersunk pop rivets in them and they will not ever > come out again. Very simple fix ! No need to make mountains out of mole > hills. I've see this eference to putting in a couple of pop rivets but I'm having trouble seeing this. I'm visualizing pop rivets from the outside of the plastic through the metal inserts. But a pop rivet is going to have a hole all the way through the center that may or may not be sealed. So what am I missing? A type of rivet that I'm not familiar with or what? BTW, I'm not being critical, just not able to see the pop rivets in there without the possibility of leaks. > > > >
