I knew you wouldn't mind Neil. he has an ABA you think too, right ? and being a 96 it should be OBD-II. Hopefully the OBD-II connector port is there ......and things will start to make sense pretty soon. I mentioned clogged cat or exhaust for our I-4 buddy here .............and, I just found an OE style german cat on a vanagon ..... when you look in either end, it looks good, but if you take it off the car, and shake it, it's obviously failing and turning into loose pieces..... but it's between the ends of the cat material, where you can't see it. I bet that would have failed and resulted in low power in a few thousand miles max. Glad we caught it. scott ----- Original Message ----- From: "neil N" <musomuso@gmail.com> To: "Scott Daniel - Turbovans" <scottdaniel@turbovans.com> Cc: <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com> Sent: Thursday, May 28, 2009 10:44 AM Subject: Re: I-4 coversion developing power troubles > On Wed, May 27, 2009 at 6:34 PM, Scott Daniel - Turbovans > <scottdaniel@turbovans.com> wrote: >> that was misinformation about looking under and at the left side of the >> block. >> that's all you will see there .......cast-in words saying '2.0. and >> 'mexico' >> . >> look on the other side, just below the head .......... >> on top of the block ........... >> right above the oil filter flange ...... >> stamped into a machined small area . >> Probably is going to say ABA. >> scott >> www.turbovans.com >> >> > > > Thanks for the correction Scott. > > Neil.
