Nice install. What's a "gas hammer"? Is that like detonation? -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Ken Lewis Sent: Friday, June 05, 2009 8:14 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Oil cooler installation pictures... ... http://neksiwel.20m.com/photo_1.html Click on thumbnails to enlarge. Before, temperatures would climb quickly towards 230F after only ten minutes of 65mph driving. Now the gauge barely goes over 180F. I took advantage of a strong air flow down through the engine hatch in the bed. I discovered it by having someone observe the blades in a box fan that was covering the opening while I drove. I have been running 10W40 this summer on an engine with 280k+ miles on it without problems. Idle oil pressure never drops below 10psi. The solar panels charge secondary batteries which power the FM radio, satellite receiver and oil cooler fan, so far. When I get a round tuit I want to hook up engine compartment electronics.
