Likely a pinion bearing going bad..
If you let it go too long before repair, it may ruin the ring & pinion
itself and cost ya even more..

Subject: Transmission Noise

I have some whining coming from the back when I over about 40mph. It quiets
down when I let off the gas and stops when I push in the clutch. It has
about 150k on it. Is this a sign that it's on it's way out or could it be as
simple as needing a fluid change?
Thanks
Steve
