I can only think of a few freeways that are more enjoyable than the surface roads they replaced, and that is usually because they've 'smooshed' the old road to build the freeway. When traveling 6-to the bus in a Van, freeway driving is kinda silly and perhaps a bit dangerous for the passengers and other traffic because of the speed differential. Heck, a Travel America at any freeway exit could be easily switched clear across the country and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I never knew about the 2 lane alternate to Donner-80...have to try that one sometime...I usually avoid crossing the Sierras around Reno until the smaller passes are clear and open.. Don Hanson
