RE: Driving Mountain Passes Simple: Don't lug it!! Be patient and use the lower gears, that's why they are there. Watch the temperature gauge but if your cooling system is in good shape you should be okay. And on the down side, again, use the lower gears to make sure you still have brakes left when you need them.
