dump that RedLine for Swepco. rebuilders have been seeing that the synthetics are not holding up well especially in the Syncro boxes. the archieves will have the posts, they started about 9 months ago, IIRC. dylan ________________________________ From: John Meeks <vanagon@GMAIL.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Friday, August 7, 2009 12:30:03 PM Subject: Re: Redline gear oil On 8/7/09, Bernie <berniej@gmail.com> wrote: > Is 75W90 the right weight for Redline gear oil in the vanagon.Thank you, > > > Bernie > Vancouver > Bernie, For a Vanagon manual transmission use Redline MT-90. It is the right weight (70-90w) for our gearboxes. I just changed out my 4 year old Redline and found the oil was a nice light molasses color. Previously the dino oil I drained was BLACK and stinky. The magnet on the drain plug had a silver colored sludge stuck to it which tells me that even very fine metallic particles are able to be pulled out of the oil.
