It is part of the antenna from a vanagon, the piece which slides inside the unit to help secure it in place against the metal from the inside. You will likely need to remove the driver's head light to get your hand in place to replace it. Jack R. 84 Westy Wolfie. Look up the parts on Gowesty or Busdepot to see what the antenna detail looks like... or if you have ETKA. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Robert Fisher Sent: Sunday, August 16, 2009 7:55 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: What is this part/piece? My wife has been driving the van today, which may or may not have anything to do with anything, but when I got in a while ago this piece/part was lying on the floorboard in front of the driver's seat. http://picasaweb.google.com/garciasghostvw/MysteryDoohickey# <http://picasaweb.google.com/garciasghostvw/MysteryDoohickey> It looks vaguely familiar; in fact it looks sort of like it came out of a bicycle handlebar assembly but I know that's not it. Something to do with the ignition switch assembly? Is it from the Vanagon at all? It's like it's right on the tip of my brain. Anybody know? Am I risking death, dismemberment or Republicanism by driving the van? Thanks, Robert
