The relay clunked initially when engine running, and I saw voltage at aux battery posts go up. In fact nearly equal (~14V) voltage at both batteries. But to use the washer you kindly linked to, I'd have to remove undercoating/barnacles/road-kill at contact point under battery box. Doing that would've sucked. Just getting my 10mm wrench under that end of battery box to hold bolt head when tightening, was a bit like a cat with his paws stretched way out trying to get his toy out from under the couch. Of course removing the wheel would have helped. <grin> But now I have a shiny new wire instead. One I can inspect daily. <grin> -- Neil Nicholson '81 VanaJetta 2.0 "Jaco" http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/ http://groups.google.com/group/vanagons-with-vw-inline-4-cylinder-gas-engines
