hmmmm..... seems to me the van is under the sales department's jurisdiction , not the service dept or part dept. I might try tactfully speaking to the parts manager, since you are after parts, after all....... and get that person on your side, if they will..... and maybe from there the sales dept might cooperate. I think their bottom lines are avoiding liability ( you could hurt yourself working on that van on their lot ) ... getting money - a car dealership needs to being in many thousands of scheles and dollars every day, and not running afoul of the gov or endangering their check from the gov for the van. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Shawley" <easywind1975@HOTMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Saturday, September 05, 2009 7:13 PM Subject: Tactics for rescuing a cash 4 clunkers van There is a passenger van sitting in the lot of a semi-local dealership with probably 20-30 other C4C cars. I'd love the opportunity to strip the interior as it looks pretty good. There are no u-pull it yards anywhere close to me with any vans, I'm on the eastern side of the rust belt. What tactics or strategy could I use to get the dealership to let me strips some non-motor parts, I'm willing to pay and all just wanted some thoughts on my best course of action.
