I got an e-mail from Discount Tire a while back, telling me that they
had reason to believe they had installed a bad set of stems on
Stephanie's Cabbie.  Went in a few days later and they installed new
for free.  Said they had run out and had to buy a case (?) from
another supplier.

All good now.
