Just took another look at the gas mileage stats for my long trip. Overall, for just over 3,600 miles, was 17.84 mpg. But with segments as low as 15 and as high as 21. The interesting part was the three days running around Yellowstone. In my '90 heavily loaded Westy w/automatic I was running 18, 19, 20 mpg for that three days. And that was a lot (maybe most) of the time in 2nd gear because of the constant up and down as we drove the 'loops' around the park. And a lot of backtracking because one part of one loop was closed and we had to backtrack a lot. But with a speed limit of 45 mph. So guys and gals, if you want to save some gas, slow down.
