Maybe you can take  pieces of rubber from an obsolete Vanagon
passenger tire  & glue them to the drainer for new bumpers- I believe
that tire rubber, even under-rated passenger or trailer tires like
Kumho(?)  would hold up better to mis-applied heat on the drainer?
