Allan (although I'd love to sell you the diesel) none at all, problems that is, not mileage related at least. A buddy of mine flies aLong-EZ behind a 2.2 Subie, did the conversion in about '96. Before he switched from Honda power to the 2.2 we took apart2 blocks with over 300k on them and they all looked brand spanking new. They were a lot younger at the time, but with those miles. I'd guess that of course plastic bits would fail with age, and of course needs a timing belt, but unlike the 2.5s those early Legacy mills are simply incredible reliability wise. And personally I feel more than enough power for a vanagon conversion. And damn cheap to, last time I converted a syncro I bought 2 under 100k mile, fullcars in MD for $1100, sold the trannies and other parts for more than I paid, and that was in like 2001.

There's supposedly an EJ22 engine near me with 84,000 miles on it. What
sort of issues (if any) would I expect to deal with at that mileage,
assuming it was maintained with "normal" care?
