Well said. I, too, find looking out the window the best. I will use a GPS
if I'm trying to find an address in an unfamiliar town. And I use a map
when I want to know how to get from one town to another. But when looking
out the window and seeing an unusual geographic feature or community in
the distance, a GPS gives little information about what I's seeing. Maps
are more informative, to me.
GPS's are too fiddly and distracting. On the other hand, there's something
endearingly stupid about a machine that tells one to drive 3 miles on
"highway three hundred ninety five."
