Frank,

Thanks for the info - it is a PITA - but I was able to get it off by letting
it all soak in a container full of the The Works. That stuff eats rust like
you wouldn't believe. So eventually the cable end let go it's death grip on
that ball.

Had I been thinking I would have ordered some POR before I started this
mess. I gave the lever a good coat of rustoleum self etching primer and
rustoleum engine paint. SHould do for now.

Had that ball broken off - well I'd have been in trouble - cause I can't
weld :)
As for moving to Cali - well no offense to those who live there but I'll
keep the Midwest - I like it here.
