Fridge 12 vt element draws about 7 amps from what I recall. If in the alternator charging loop should easily be compensated for by the charging. Running lights and AC in vanagons is WAY up there with amp draw Radiator fan, dual fans in the a/c evap, lights, radio 40 - 50 amps easily. I suspect the batt is not in the charging circut while underway. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack R." <jack007@COMCAST.NET> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Monday, October 19, 2009 8:21 AM Subject: Refrig on Aux Battery > I've noticed that if I have my Refrig running on the Aux battery while > driving, the battery still drains and loses power while traveling. > > > > Is this normal, or should the Refrig be able to run on full alternator power > while the vehicle is running, thus not draining the battery? > > Is there a suggested way to do this, or did we hook up the relay wrong? > > > > The Aux battery does recharge when the vehicle is running, and I don't have > a heavy load on it. > > > > Thanks! > > > > Jack R. > > 84 Westy Wolfy > > Bloomfield Hills, MI
