Hello list,
Over the years I have had trouble getting keys made for my Vanagon. The main key wasn't so bad (although I had a hard time getting a rubber head one), but I had trouble with the glove box key, and just recently had a hard time getting a key made for the older style domestic water tank lock (the lock under the plastic cover, not the plastic key for the cover). So when I finally found some, I ordered in bulk and thought I'd sell them individually for anyone who is having the same problems.
I have the following aftermarket keys available, at prices that so far are lower than any that I've seen on the Samba or eBay:
Vanagon main key, Silca or other aftermarket brand, $3.50 including US shipping.
Vanagon plastic head main key, similar to the original rubber style, but aftermarket with no VW logo and the plastic is slightly harder than the rubber-headed ones, $6.00 including US shipping (haven't seen these anywhere else for price comparison, but if you see one, let me know and I'll match the price.)
Glove box key (also for the locking box under the optional single swivel seat) $6.00 including US shipping
Gas cap key (for the ones that use a different key than the ignition/door). $4.50 including US shipping
Key for water tank. Originals often have "DOM" on the key. $6.00 including US shipping.
I also have keys for bay windows, Beetles, Jettas, etc. Just ask.
If you want a picture of any of the keys, I can e-mail one to you.
For an extra $2.00, I can cut the key if you send me the original.
I know that some of you may be able to find some of these keys locally, but I couldn't, and found them elsewhere in bulk.
For questions, please e-mail erduntz@hotmail.com, not the reply-to address here.
Thanks,
Ed Duntz
