Wind and elevation both make a significant difference for my '91 VW Vanagon GL Campmobile 4-speed manual. I tend to drive around 60 mph. On interstates, maybe 65 mph max. Lowest gas mileage is around 18 mpg on interstates with wind. Goes up to a bit over 23 mpg at higher elevations, calm, two lane roads without traffic. Varies between, averaged 20.56 mpg this summer on 5K mile trip out west.
