This 99 came out of the parts donor Jetta.

For anyone searching the bone yard, my A3 Jetta Bentley says the 99
was used in these years:

Jetta/Golf/Gti '93 - '99

Cabriolet '95 - '02

including engines: 1.9 TDI, 2.0, 2.8
