The overhaul kit really only addresses a leaky seal. If any mechanical part is really worn then machine work is required to restore proper pump operation. Often the shaft seal leak is really caused by a worn pump shaft or housing bushing. Worn vanes or pump body will cause poor performance and noise. The price of these pumps is now over $300 in most places and over $400 in others. And thats remanufactured before core charge. It makes the $12 or so for an overhaul kit and a little time look pretty good. Has anyone actually rebuilt their own using a rebuild kit? Pictures?
