I've been running a Barton regulator for a few years now. I had to modify
a bitty screwdriver to fit into the hole on the rear of it to tweak the
voltage. The voltage was initially set higher than stock as deep cycle
batteries benefit from a hotter float charge than the stock regulator puts
out. But I'm now running a DC-in DC-out smart charger to take care of
deep-cycle charging, and I've set the Barton back to the original Bosch
regulator's voltage.
