Hi
What are you doing about the steering Lock?
Years ago when I lived in San Diego a buddy of mine took his van and wired it to do other things.
His ignition switch was dead as was his wipers. So the wiper switch was to turn the system on and the Horn button was the start button. No one could steal it since they had no idea how to make it go. I only know this because I watched him start it.
Not sure if this is the part you need http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=634656
C-ya Jonce

I did it. I lost the last ignition key I had for my 1971 VW van... I had already bypassed the starter part of the switch years ago when the switch failed- installed a starter button. Now I need to wire up a toggle switch to make the system "hot." Who's done this and what's the process? Pictures too?

Jim C
Mexico
86 Westy
71 van
<x-sigsep>
</x-sigsep> Jonce Fancher
56 Single Cab
66 Sunroof Bug
66 Squareback
66 Porsche 912
71 Sunroof Bus
84 Vanagon 7 Passenger 24k Miles
85 Vanagon Westi 2.0L Zetec
03 Sprinter
1 Understanding / Tolerant Wife, 2 Kids and 1 Beagle

www.fanchers.com
www.busesbythebeach.com
