Just returned from Baja. Sorry to say we flew. Stayed in the outskirts of Cabo San Jose. Drove our rental Jetta (with 600 kilometros on the clock,) up the coastline, to Cabo Pulmo. Damned rough road, but Jetta did great.....though I'm pretty sure a couple of shocks were blown straight to el diablo! I wished for my Syncro the whole time. Lots and lots of unpopulated beaches with vacant palapas, along good Syncro roads. Oh yeah, the usual wonderful Mejicanos, food, drink, and the atun was off the chain, as the youngsters like to say, these days. Anyway, hope to be ready in a few months to do the Baja trip, for real in my Syncro, but have my daughter graduating from college this month, so I have a few accounts to settle up, so perhaps November, 2010. Been all over Mexico mainland, much of it in my Syncro or my 71 Dormobile, but never Baja. Just saying it's a must do. I will be posting when the time is near. Thinking a reliable solar set-up, good fridge for sure, extra water and fuel capacity, lots of mechanical prep, some water craft and the usual can of bravado. Hope to pick up some stragglers from this list.............maybe that crazy M.Sullivan (ask me how I know,) if he would just get a Syncro and quit talking about it. Miguel
