I bought another Vanagon after a couple of years without one.  Just think:

Vanagon / VW events are a blast.

Drive in movies are more fun - kickin' back in the bed with the hatch open.

If you have kids, they'll love it!

The other reasons I can think of have been mentioned.

If you can do some maintenance yourself, you won't regret it.
