Ya know David, I am not sure you should have said that on the list... but... 4 years ago I lost my father to a burst aneurysm on the aorta between his heart and stomach. It was a month of hell and if you would have made the same pronouncement, I would have agreed. His chances were slim and none and I am not sure putting him through a month of ICU was the best way to handle it, as if we really had a choice. So all my best wishes to the family. If you haven't gone through this particular pain. please be quiet. Thanks David, this is a difficult position for you to be in. tim in san jose On Thu, Nov 19, 2009 at 11:21 PM, Jake de Villiers <crescentbeachguitar@gmail.com> wrote: > If you were a professional, you wouldn't have made that irresponsible > negative pronouncement to a thousand people, many of whom have never met > Mike personally. > > It was just your opinion, and you should have kept it to yourself. > > Jake de Villiers > > On Tue, Nov 17, 2009 at 8:53 PM, David Beierl <dbeierl@attglobal.net> wrote: > >> Dear Volks, >> >> I finally heard from Mary two days ago, and I'm now at a place in my >> travels where I have a connection. I don't want to get >> into details, but as of a couple days ago Mike's condition was very >> grave, and looking at the list of things he has piled up against him >> right now, and I beg you to keep this amongst yourselves, in my >> professional opinion he's not likely to recover. I hope I'm wrong, >> but the excellent internist at whose house I dined tonight and in >> whose bed I'm sleeping likewise sees little chance for him based on >> Mary's email. And when I mentioned Goodpasture's disease, my friend >> immediately said "Mphm...that's a very serious disease, hard to >> treat. I've never had a patient with it and I'm very glad of that." >> >> I wish I had better news, and Mike's joie-de-vivre and powerful will, >> and his great love for Mary are all points in his favor. He's been >> transported to Charlottesville where they have better facilities and >> is being treated vigorously. As it has all along, it still seems to >> be a race between the steroids and the reaper. >> >> Sadly yours, >> David >> > > > > -- > Jake > > 1984 Vanagon GL > 1986 Westy Weekender "Dixie" > > Crescent Beach, BC > > www.thebassspa.com > www.crescentbeachguitar.com > http://subyjake.googlepages.com/mydixiedarlin%27 > -- Where ever you are, there you be.
