A month ago I pulled into the campground for the first time after dark, a bit disoriented and searching for a spot. There is a campground host site across from the day use area kinda between the upper and lower loop. It was vacant. I paid, posted the ticket and took it.The ranger making the early morning rounds didn't bat an eye. A littleclose to the dumpsters but otherwise a nice tree sheltered isolated spot with abackyard area, table and fire ring that could accommodate a large group for an informal gathering. Maybe one you can score it. Good luck and have fun ! ________________________________ From: Bernie <berniej@GMAIL.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Thu, December 17, 2009 2:11:14 PM Subject: Re: Death Valley Trip The lower loop is more sheltered, but officially a 'tent only' loop. The rangers enforce the tents rule, but if you take a small pup tent & put that up next to your Westy, that seems to satisfy them Because there could be 10 or more VW's coming we will go to the upper loop and won't use the "tent only" lower loop. We don't want to take the tent sites from the "real" tenters. How would a tenter feel if they couldn't get a spot in the tent loop cause it was full of VW's?
