Note the SH rating of that oil for Gasoline engines. This rating I think was
obsolete somewhere around 1995 or 1996. If used in a 1996 or later gas
engine vehicle you will have voided all the emissions warranties. The new
improved version now has different ratings as the old formulae is not
allowed in 2007 or later Diesels.

When Consumer Reports reviewed the original VW Rabbit, they complained
that it only had one turn signal indicator. That only means they were
too stupid to remember which way they were going to turn.

Their oil test, AIR, involved a fleet of taxis, which although they put
on many miles in a short time, don't experience many hot/cold cycles,
hardly representative of typical use.

I use Shell Rotella T 5W-40 (CI-4/SH rated group III "synthetic") in
all my cars, including the Vanagon. They recently came out with an
improved version, called "T6".
