  Your disclaimer is totally on the mark, Max.  We live in Atlanta,
Georgia, and theheater blower, which has been tetchy for quite a
while, (squeek!) has multi many fewer hours on it than our AC blowers,
which get used much more oftener. <G>

  In fact, we've been able to get by for years with an absent rear
heater and the  footwell ducts in the front are taped shut, but are we
willing to spend whatever it takes to keep that AC blowing cold.

 I should probably mention that we're transplanted New Englanders.
