An EV Vanagon is only good for a demonstration or limited use vehicle. Vanagon/Westy is too heavy for practical EV propulsion...you'll need about 1000 pounds of lead acid batteries to displace each gallon. i.e. 1000 pounds of batteries will get you about 18 miles. Better to use a small/light vehicle for EV conversion.... if you are interested in a DIY EV, go attend a local EV club meeting to get real world information. http://www.eaaev.org/eaachapters.html Links below of VW van EV's http://www.evalbum.com/1727 http://www.evalbum.com/2996 http://www.evalbum.com/177 http://www.evalbum.com/426 http://evalbum.com/3110 ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Jake de Villiers <crescentbeachguitar@GMAIL.COM> Reply-To: Jake de Villiers <crescentbeachguitar@GMAIL.COM> Date: Fri, 15 Jan 2010 19:36:50 -0800 >http://www.evalbum.com/177.html > >On Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 12:48 PM, Arkady Mirvis <arkadymirvis@gmail.com>wrote: > >> Anyone attempted to install electric power in Westy? >> Ark >> > > > >-- >Jake > >1984 Vanagon GL >1986 Westy Weekender "Dixie" > >Crescent Beach, BC > >www.thebassspa.com >www.crescentbeachguitar.com >http://subyjake.googlepages.com/mydixiedarlin%27 >
