Not ignorance just have not had experience with the problem. The brake master cylinder in our Westy Syncro used to leak fluid on the floor mat in subzero temperatures do to differential contraction. It was fine in warmer weather but when cold leaked. The replacement does not and the pedal feels much more firm now.
