Linda and I have the stereotypical differences in hobbies/interests; I'm a
Top Gear guy, she loves HGTV.  Each of us can appreciate the other's
interest up to a certain level, but we know which we prefer. In her eyes
cars are strictly functional, and therefore she loves her Toyota minivan
(which I'll admit is admirably functional and reliable, even if utterly
devoid of even the slightest hint of personality, excitement, heart or
soul).  I have to admit that I could not possibly get excited over a
countertop or window treatments or a food processor, so I can understand her
corresponding apathy toward cars.

That said, we agree on the Westy. We both love the freedom it gives us, the
memories, and the excitement in our kids' eyes when camping season comes
around again. No other vehicle could bring us that joy, and fit in so well
with our lifestyle. She also likes my '78 Crew Cab, as it too brings
something of value to the table (hauling). Both appeal to her practical side
as well as making her husband happy.

I give her much more credit for accepting my revolving door of other far
less practical vehicles without even the slightest complaint. My little 2
cylinder aircooled Fiat 500 and my 1968 Mini are purely whimsical (but oh so
much fun!!!), they make my VW's look like the world's most reliable cars,
and they take up half the garage, yet she's never uttered a single word.
(I've got my heart set on a Citroen 2CV next ... Sorry, Linda, there goes
the rest of the garage!  :-)
