Panera Cafe/Bread shop is a good national chain with free wifi and they don't seem to mind if sit there all day, just as long as not at lunch rush hours....good soup and sandwiches too.

Also, almost every town has a mom & pop coffee shop with free wifi, and most public libraries too...
