One hates to hear of a good van gone. A sad day. Good luck with the new van! Stephen --- On Fri, 2/26/10, Jeff Lincoln <magikvw@GMAIL.COM> wrote: From: Jeff Lincoln <magikvw@GMAIL.COM> Subject: Good Bye Grover :( To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Date: Friday, February 26, 2010, 10:10 AM Well, a couple of weeks ago I backed poor Grover into a cement post in a parking lot. The post was lower than my view out the back window. Long story short it wasn't pretty and caused some kind of serious damage. Long story short I did my homework and it was going to cost more to fix the damage than I thought made financial sense. I mean you don't remodel a room in a condemned house right? So it didn't make sense to dump all that money into a bus that would have more body rust issues in the near future. So as much as I loved my imperfect '90 Carat Grover it's time to say good bye to him. As is only appropriate ion all honorable Vanagon deaths - Grover will be parted out so that his bits can make other Vanagons more happy. I'll have a list when the deed is done. Having said all that I am happy to say that my good friend Scott Hengert has made me a generous offer on this beautiful '85 GL. http://picasaweb.google.com/pnoceanwesty/1985VanagonGL?authkey=Gv1sRgCMWM1Kj4lOKkrgE # Her name is Gertie and she was rescued by Scott and Pete O. from a recycling yard in Indiana - I believe the original tip of her existence came from this list. We haven't hammered out the details of getting her yet - so I'm not sure exactly when she'll be in our drive. So there you have it a little Friday story about tragedy, happiness, death , and resurrection. -- Have a Great Weekend, Jeff '90 Carat (Grover) '86 (We call this one Parts) '78 Bus (Melissa) Patty's Bus
