yes, but if you run hose just another 10 inches forward, you can clamp right onto original black plastic fuel pipe. that way there is one hose, and two clamps between engine and plastic pipe. if you just replace the firestarter ( cute name ! ) fitting with a short piece of brass barbed fitting .. then you have two hoses, that fitting, and 4 hose clamps between engine and plastic fuel line. just go direct to the plastic fuel line. Fewer parts, fewer opportunities to leak. scott turbovans ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger Whittaker" <rogerwhitt1@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2010 10:26 AM Subject: Re: question about thermostat ... or not > thank you i will replace today before i set out > yours > > On Thu, Mar 4, 2010 at 10:25 AM, Jeff Lincoln <magikvw@gmail.com> wrote: > >> Roger, >> >> Some call that plastic peice "The Fire Starter" - so please do replace it >> when you can.
