Subject:Oil Leak advice needed

Hi Volks,

I'm on a business trip at the moment, and I decided that instead of
paying for airport parking I would be better off to leave my Vanagon at
the local VW specialist to take care of a few small issues. The plan was
for them to install a replacement coolant temp sensor and to repair an
exhaust leak and replace the O2 sensor. Oh, and while they had it on the
hoist they might as well track down the oil leak that has been coating
my rear hatch for the last month or so.

So today I called for a status update, and I was told that the oil leak
is from the oil pump. Apparently one of the gaskets is leaking. They
haven't dealt with it yet, as they are telling me it's a very involved
job requiring the exhaust and cooling system to be removed before they
can get at the pump. I asked for an estimate and was told to call back
tomorrow as the guy who can answer that had already left for the day.

March is a terrible month for driveway repairs in Toronto, and I am
pretty busy with work and other household projects. How bad should I
expect to get hosed if I opt for them to do the work?

Happy Trails,
