Mary says: I have not sent an update in a while but thought I would let you all know just where my husband is at the moment. All you Westy owners could probably guess where with just one guess!!! Yes he is outside in the Westy, he has to make sure the batteries are charged since it has not been driven for 5 months. He is amazing. He has come a long way in the past 5 months. Some doctors gave up on him ever getting well, some gave up on his kidneys ever returning but his primary care doctor has always given us hope that in 6 months good things are expected....either he will get well or he will be put on the list for a donor kidney. Today his condition has improved so much and his blood count is now that of a normal healthy person and is not an anemic anymore! He is also urinating about two thirds as that of a healthy person, he had gone several months of not urinating at all. The creatinine level has been declining since December...from 11.5 to 7.5 in February, but he has improved so much in the past two weeks that we think it will be much lower when we get the March report. His doctor said he has to come down to a level 3 or lower before coming off dialysis. Although he is not 100% better he is well on his way. He still can not walk without the aid of crutches and his blood pressure has been enormously high. His doctor put him on blood pressure meds last Wednesday but it has not helped and the headaches are just horrible. Today I got them to put him on another medication which might help.....So to all the list members who have kept in touch with me through all this ordeal I want to say Thanks, you have helped to keep his spirits up and his doctor has said that his personality and high spirits and determination has played a big part in his getting well. He is planning on attending a bus gathering in April in Greensboro, NC. Hope to see you all there. Regards, Mary
