You can only do it one way. The flywheel doesn't fit through the adapter plate. Ergo, you must remove the transmission from the adapter plate. The plate stays on the engine until the flywheel comes off. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Scott Daniel - Turbovans Sent: Wednesday, March 17, 2010 12:16 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: KEP Plate Remove Transmission the adapter is bolted firmly to the engine. then trans is installed onto that. you'll be removing trans from 'engine with adapter.' or you can remove 'engine with adapter' from the trans. pretty sure . ----- Original Message ----- From: "neil n" <musomuso@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, March 16, 2010 7:49 PM Subject: KEP Plate Remove Transmission > Hi all. > > No biggie but.... > > On a Vanagon with a KEP adaptor plate, is it easier to remove tranny > w/adapter plate attached? > > Seems so.
