BTDT a couple of times.  It is going to depend on the make of the awning.
The two major brands, Dometic (sold under several names) and Fiamma (also
sold under at least two names) mount in a different manner.  Either way you
will need to purchase the proper brackets and can cost up to $100 a set.
And I've never seen a bargin price on them.  So, what is the name/model
number on the awning you bought?
