For bass?  Well in my Carat, I put an amplified Bazooka under the rear bench:

I think I left the 4" or whatever rear speakers in for a bit of fill.
Along with the MBQ components up front, and an Alpine amp I love the
sound in that van!

For my camper, where I'd like to retain the under-bench storage, I
think I'm going to try one of those slim units like the Boss BASS-600
- perhaps installed on the outside of the cabinet behind the driver
seat.

I've also seen some mount something like a 6x9 in the lower front
doors or rear bench panel.
