I 'install' the grease with a putty knife.
I use black 'molygraph' grease.
it comes in both the little tub, and in grease gun tube variety.
but there's now point in usuing a grease gun.

jes yer grimmy finners, or a putty knife.

I put a pretty signifiant amount in too ....more than the whatever ounces
they say.
I have seen many dry CV joints, but never one with 'too much' grease.
Don't overdo it of course ...
but .......I put some in the boot, like say 2 1/2 tablespoons worth,
then push grease into to joint with a putty knife,
then fill the flange 'bowl' area .
Some squeases out of the flange area when you tighten down the screws of
course, no big deal.
