Ok, based on responses, I've decided not to cut. Now I need to decide on the approach. I really like the idea of making a nice custom kick panel and storing the original. I think I will do this, but, for now, I think I'm going to use Jake's suggestion, as my NC, SC and Florida road trip kicks off on Friday 4/16 and I'm doing my usual, 'pre-trip final cram.' The amp : http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=577 The sub : http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs_pages.php?page_id=278 The speakers : http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp_id=59 The deck is a DEH, Pioneer with USB and all that jazz. Thanks for all your help, Miguel I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. - Thomas A.
