Dead simple.  You put the lever down to intermittent, then back to
off.  When the glass is wet enough you put it back to intermittent
and leave it there.  Any time you want to change, just turn it off
again until you want the next sweep, then back on.  If it sweeps as
you turn it off, that counts as the starting point, so you can always
go by the condition of the glass.  In theory they go to 25 seconds,
but the two I've used (one direct from VW parts) both time out at
about 15.  If it times out it goes to default 6-second delay.
