Dear Jeff,

Is it a pine tree?  I wouldn't think a sixteen-month old tree would
be getting around that much yet, but some of the pine trees are a bit
precocious, white pines especially.  Turpentine ought to take off
their sap though, since it's made from it (out here in sub-New
Brunswick land we call that stuff "pitch").
