Why avoid asparagus?  Just don't pea in the van. Or, as David said, if you are among the 78% of folks who can't smell it, why worry?

BTW, it is one or more metabolites, not asparagine itself, that is odorous.  And, asparagine is just another name for the amino acid aspartic acid, found in all proteins.
