"I mean, could you imagine maintaining and/or restoring an older RV?" Really! While traveling through eastern PA a few years ago we stopped for lunch at a rural diner and parked nearby and for sale was an old Mercedes diesel shuttle-sized bus (model 209?) that we looked at for a while. It was beat and I considered that my shivers of apprehension were a strong indicator of the decisionwe should make. Wisely, we drove on. Stephen --- On Fri, 5/21/10, neil n <musomuso@GMAIL.COM> wrote: From: neil n <musomuso@GMAIL.COM> Subject: Re: Vanagon Woes To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Date: Friday, May 21, 2010, 4:09 PM On Thu, May 20, 2010 at 9:59 PM, Arkady Mirvis <arkadymirvis@gmail.com> wrote: >...... For me, a lot of that is a learning curve. Like manual transmission R&R. Finally took the time to build what is, ironically, shown in the Bentley manual; a small platform to support the transmission on the jack. I cussed (profanity) much less using that on my floor jack. As the years creep on, I learn more and more that there's no "free lunch" and "nothing is perfect". We get back, more or less, what we put into these beasts. Personally I see my sessions of profanity, sweat, and tears as "paying if forward" to help ensure a more enjoyable traveling and camping experience. I mean, could you imagine maintaining and/or restoring an older RV? http://rvinsurancelive.com/pictures/old-rv.jpg :) Neil. -- Neil Nicholson '81 VanaJetta 2.0 "Jaco" http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/ http://groups.google.com/group/vanagons-with-vw-inline-4-cylinder-gas-engines
