If you ever need an adjustable time delay relay check out a 528T Relay.  It can be wired to trigger with a pulse or constant negative or positive trigger.  Lots of uses, like how about interior lights that stay on for x seconds after you close the door?

The alarm guys use them all the time, for example to run glow plugs first when remote starting a diesel car.
