Thanks for all the info, guys. Just got home with the motor...carried it in my van, of course. I think I really scored! It's very complete. It has the whole intake, the AC is complete, the PS pump is mounted, alternator, IAC valve in place, almost new silicone plug wires and a two pipe outlet exhaust manifold. Heck, I could probably make my hundred bucks back selling the AC and PS pump, which I won't use. Drained the oil and it looks clean, no metal shavings...no leaks on the motor. It's from a 94 Jetta so that is probably the older style OBD 1.. anyhow, I will take this off the list now to avoid censure for a somewhat 'iffy' general topic of interest to the whole list. As I progress, I will post some pics and update as it gets done.. \ Don Hanson On Sun, Jun 6, 2010 at 1:12 PM, pdooley <psdooley@verizon.net> wrote: > The ABA has 2 variants- an OBD1 and OBD2 version. > The OBD1 in the earlier MK3's is the better candidate as it has the > squirters and a forged crank. > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of > neil n > Sent: Sunday, June 06, 2010 1:39 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: A new project..inline 4 VW van > > On Sat, Jun 5, 2010 at 9:01 PM, Don Hanson <dhanson928@gmail.com> wrote: > .... > > > My planned project is to pull the 1.8 liter and swap on the bottom end > of > > the 2 liter motor.
