Subject:Re: Why my rear axle nuts got loose

The suggestion to get them tightened properly asap is a great suggestion.

I was thinking about how properly torqued rear axle nuts could loosen up,
even if tightened properly ..
and thought of the stub axle threads, or the big nut itself..
if those threads are corroded and half gone ....like just not what they once
were..
that could explain repeated loosening even if properly toqued anyway.

otherwise...if you get it tighented correctly, it's not ever going to loosen
up ...'get stuck' is almost more like it, stuck on there too well. I've had
to use an oxy-accelyelene torch to get some nuts off..
because they were on there at about 500 ft lbs at least.

be safe whatever you do !
